Thank you to Karen Lang for alerting me to this big and good news:
Cambridge University Press is providing free materials to teach sustainability in English Learner Classrooms.
The materials include Activity Cards for
Young Learners -- maybe helpful for Beginning Level EL in Adult Ed
Teenage Learners - maybe helpful for Intermediate Level EL
Adult Learners - pretty advanced in terms of English level
They have also produced a meaty white paper to use when making a case that we need more such curriculum in English Learner classrooms and Adult Education.
The website also offers questions to weave into classroom discussions and assignments, such as these:
What examples of sustainable and unsustainable behaviours and practices can you think of that relate to this topic?
What do different people believe about this issue?
How does this issue or problem impact on you personally?
How does it impact on different groups of people around the world?
How does it impact on the environment and other living things?
In order to really move forward, we need more such materials.
Kudos to Cambridge!
